As an important phenomenon in today’s global regional economic and social development, urbanization is the orientation and path for countries especially developing countries to promote economic development and realize modernization. Land is the material vector of economy, society and environment. The promotion of urbanization may have great influence on regional land use, on the other hand, land use may restrict the further development of urbanization. Researching the land use change in the context of urbanization will have significant theoretical and practical value for us to explain the relationship between urbanization and land use, realize the positive interaction of urbanization and land use and promote sound and rapid development of economy and society. This paper takes Erhai Basin as an example. At first, the author introduces related theory of land use and urbanization. Then studies the land use change in the context of urbanization in three respects:the mechanisms of different types of land use change driven by urbanization, the interaction of urbanization level and land use change, the environmental response of land use change in the process of urbanization. Finally, this paper proposes some countermeasures and suggestions on the basis of research results. The main research results obtained in this paper are as follows:The mechanism of different types of land use change in Erhai Basin is complicated. The effect between different types of land use change and urbanization has different direction, speed and trend, the same type of land use change in different period of urbanization also have different direction, speed and trend.A co-integration relation between urbanization and land use change does exist. The long-term stable equilibrium relation would have deviations in short term and the deviation can be adjusted to the long-term equilibrium with different strength. Research exhibited that the relationship between urbanization and land use change showed different characteristics in different period of urbanization. It was also found that changes of urbanization and construction land had a significant correlation with themselves, construction land could affect the change of urbanization, urbanization and construction land played an important role in the change of agricultural land, construction land is the main influence factor of the change of ecological land.Periodical characteristics can be showed in the landscape diversity index, landscape eveness index, landscape dominance and landscape fragmentation in Erhai Basin. The landscape diversity and eveness index increased whereas the dominance degreased. The change trends of different types of landscape fragmentation were different. Cultivated land, garden land, land for residential and mining and land for traffic degreased while the fragmentation of forest land, grass land, land for water area and idle land increased. In2011, the largest landscape fragmentation were forest land and grass land, the smallest landscape fragmentation were cultivated land and land for water area. The ecosystem service value of Erhai Basin degreased and periodical characteristics can be observed. The loss of ecosystem service value varied from different types of land use. The loss of cultivated land, forest land, land for water area was more obvious and the loss of garden land, grass land and idle land was less obvious. A co-integration relation between urbanization level and non-point source water pollution does exist. Different pollutants of non-point water pollution have different affect on urbanization, the emission of TP can restrain the development of urbanization and the emission of COD and TN have motive effect on the development of urbanization somehow in the short term, in the long term, TP emission’s restrain effect on the urbanization development will increase and COD and TN emission’s motive effect will increase. The result of Granger test signifies that there is a one-way Granger causality, from the emission of COD, TP, TN to urbanization, while there’s no empirical evidence on the inverse relationship. This paper put forward some countermeasures and suggestions:A land use planning must be formulated and executed, land use structure should be adjusted and optimized, ecological environment of Erhai Basin should be protected, the road to urbanization should be a sustainable one.
