Tourism Development Of The Western Regions And Its Effecting Factors

China’s tourism industry has become one of the most important industry in thenational economy after30years of development, resource endowments, geographicalconditions, the level of economic development, tourism service facilities constructionand other reasons resulting imbalance in regional tourism development. The westernregion is a treasure trove of tourism resources in China, since the development of thewestern region, the goverment take tourism as the pillar industry or leading industry,tourism plays an important role in the economic development of the western region.but because of the lag in endowment resources, geographic conditions, economicdevelopment level, tourism service facilities construction, the western region tourismimbalance is more prominent. the analysis and study of the western area tourismdevelopment difference and influence is of great significance to the rational use oftourism resources, optimizing production elements of the tourism spatial configuration,and promoting the coordinated development of the western region tourism industry.In this paper, based on the relevant literature for the development of regionaltourism at home and abroad, anaylysing the present situation and the restriction oftourism industry in the western region, using qualitative and quantitative analysismethod to analyse the difference of tourism development during2000and2012respectively. It comes out that the overall difference, the absolute differene betweendomestic tourism and inbound tourism, two areas (northwest, southwest) anddifferences between two areas are expanding, the relative differences is getting narrow.Domestic tourism is one of the main factors causing the difference of tourismdevelopment, the northwest region difference is larger than the southwest regio naldifferences, the zone of northwest area difference is the main reason causing theoverall difference. And then use the panel data model, choosing total tourism revenueas the explanatory variables, the total number of tourist attractions, fixed assets,number of employees travel, highway mileage, per capita disposable income as theexplanatory variables to analyse the factors which affect the development of tourismdifference from2012to2000in the whole western region,the southwest area and thenorthwest area. It comes to conclusion that: either the entire western region, southwestor northwest, tourism resources abundances, fixed assets investment, labor input,transportation convenience, residents’ disposable effect of income on total tourism revenue is positively significant. Abundant tourism resources degree and per capitadisposable income of the impact on the total tourism revenue is more stable. When thetotal number of tourist attractions for each1%increase, the total tourism revenue willincrease by0.294%, while per capita disposable income growth of1%, an increase of0.689%of total tourism revenue. Fixed assets investment and labor inputs difference inthe northwest and southwest regions is large. The fixed assets investment of southwesthas not obviously impact on tourism growth(0.182), and has a great role in promotingtourism personnel investment (0.250). The northwest area of fixed assets investmentimpact on tourism development is significantly (0.373), tourism personnel investmenthas relatively weak influence on the total tourism income(0.149). The difficulty oftraffic construction in southwest of China is relatively low, because the traffic networkconstruction has been relatively mature in southwest, the scenic spots can enter easily,so the effect of southwest(0.107) is higher than the overall level of west (0.807).owingto the traffic network construction of northwest area is more difficult, so the impact onthe tourism industry is not significant. Finally, according to the empirical results,putting forward few advises to promote the coordinated development of tourismindustry in the western area from the following five aspects: one is that governmentshould play the important role of activating the "domestic" tourism market; two is tosuit to local conditions to strengthen the development and protection of tourismresources; three is to increase tourism supporting service facilities; four is to play aemphasis on constructing the tourism talent team; five is to strengthen the westerntourism cooperation to achieve balanced regional development.
