With the accelerating process of global integration and the rapid development ofsociety, the contact between China and the world become more and more close, Moreand more foreigners come to China to work, live, study and travel. This also putforward higher requirement to the qualities and abilities of employees at hotel,Proficiency in English has become a necessary basic skill. However, there is concernthat high-quality hotel employees is obviously inadequate, both master skilledprofessional skills but also with foreign language communicative competence ofprofessionals is a "rare", which to some extent, restricted the development of China’shotel industry. To let the world know more about China and China to the world, weurgently need a large number of both have strong professional skills, and proficiencyin English communication ability of the compound talents.Task-based approach produced in the1980s. It influenced a lot in the world. Itemphasizes student-centered. By allowing students to learn, to explore, to interact andto complete tasks in the classroom activities, improve language skills of students.How to use task-based approach better in teaching, thus enhance the students’ interestin learning, improve learning attitude, enhance motivation and improve their languageskills is our issue to be addressed and is also the goal and target of the writing.This paper consists of six parts. The first part is introduction. Specificallyaddressed the research background, significance, research methods and researchstatus;The second part discusses the theory of task-based teaching; the third part,analyzed the current status of the teaching of hotel English. Introduces the courselocation, teaching characteristics and teaching situation; The fourth part discuss theprocess of using Task-based approach on hotel English by example; The fifth part isthe Experimental Research of the task-based approach used in vocational HotelEnglish Teaching. Describes the experimental profiles, and then through the analysisof experimental results, obtained the advantages of using task-based approach. Thelast part, the think of using the task-based approach on hotel English teaching andgive the suggestions and outlook on hotel English teaching.
