With the development of Chinese economy and the holding of Beijing Olympic Games and the Shanghai World Expo,more and more foreigners come to travel,work and study in China,which means that China's hotel industry will step into a stage of rapid and sustainable development while foreign-related nature of hotel industry puts forward higher requirements of high-quality talents with high English and management skills in China,which makes practitioners must be familiar with the hotel business,understand the law of hotel industry,grasp marketing strategies,have good English communication and organizational skills and use English to work in the hotel service.Hotel management majors of vocational college are the cradle of skilled personnel of “hotel + English”.Hotel English is one of the compulsory courses of hotel management at vocational college,aiming at cultivating students to be engaged in hotel service with practical English skills.Task-Based Language Teaching Approach(TBLTA will be replaced in the following thesis),a new development of communicative language teaching approach,refers to learning language through completing various tasks.It is commonly used in fundamental English teaching in our country.In recent years,more and more educators and teachers adopted this approach in ESP course in vocational college.TBLTA can stimulate students' motivation of learning English and promote their language proficiency.In this research,the author tries to apply TBLTA to her hotel English class,to see whether this approach can improve student' language ability and practical application,to test whether this approach can increase students' cooperative consciousness.The subjects are 80 students from second year of hotel management majors in Technological Vocational College of Dezhou at Qingdao.The research lasts from the end of Oct.2015 to mid April in 2016,altogether 16 weeks.The author takes a pre-test and pre-questionnaire before the experiment and a post-test and post-questionnaire after the experiment.With the help of SPSS13.0 software,the author gets experimental class and control class are at the same English proficiency before the experiment.After the experiment,the research indicates that Task-Based Language Teaching Approach can promote hotel English proficiency,creativity and service level of experimental class compared with control class.The interview is held in Apr.15 th,2016.Analyzing the results of the interview,the author draws a conclusion that experimental class have greatly improved in their English learning motivation,interests and cooperative consciousness.
