The tourism in China developed quickly after entering into the new century.With the quick development of the tourism,the hotel industry,which is believed to be the good supplement to the tourism,also becomes a sunrise industry.After China joined in the WTO,the relationship between China and other countries become more and more closely,the hotel industry also took to the road of internationalization.The deepening of internationalization in Hotel industry requires that hotel staff have better English communication ability.This also requires the secondary vocational schools which output a large number of hotel practitioners paying more attention to professional English teaching to meet the requirements of better English communication ability of the staff.However,the hotel English teaching at secondary vocational school still exists many problems which are complained by the students.Based on the advanced teaching theories,this study combined task-based teaching theory with the teaching practice of the secondary vocational school and tried to optimize the hotel English teaching by using task-based teaching methods.In this study,task-based teaching is applied to hotel English teaching at secondary vocational school.After analyzing the problems existing in hotel English teaching,the author uses task-based teaching to solve the problems one by one.By analyzing the results of the empirical study,we find that the task-based teaching is feasible and effective in hotel English teaching.It can help the students obtain corresponding English ability that the hotel industry requires.The author divides the study into five chapters.The first chapter briefly introduces the research background of this topic,research contents and train of thought,research significance and purpose,research method,etc.The second chapter makes the theoretical review for the task-based teaching method and illustrates the basic concepts of task and task-based teaching,the theoretical basis of task-based teaching and task-based teaching method research status at home and abroad.The author makes two questionnaires to the students of the hotel service and management at school and the graduates who work in the hotel industry.Through the analysis of the questionnaires,we find that a series of problems exists in the current hotel English teaching.The fourth chapter introduces the reasons why we use the task-based teaching in hotel English teaching and the solutions to the problems existing in hotel English teaching in our school.It is expounded from the teaching method,teaching means,teaching contents,teaching evaluation,students' learning interest and learning motivation.The fifth chapter are the investigation and analysis for the task-based teaching in hotel English teaching practice in our school.Through the statistical analysis of tests,questionnaires,etc,I analyze the actual teaching effects of the task-based teaching method.Thus I draw the conclusion of the survey experiment.Finally,the full essay is summarized and concluded.
