Gear measurement centre is character with high accuracy and performance and represents the development direction. The design method of the structure is always based on experience and experiment. The modern design method has not been widely applied in the field. This caused the large gap between domestic and oversea gear measurement technology and apparatus. The major and urgent job for domestic manufacturing of gear measurement apparatus is reducing the development cycle for meeting the requirements of gear measurement. The research on design method of the gear measurement center is effective way for solving this problem.Based on structure of commercial gear measurement center, this paper simplify design the mechanical structure as well as applying the general finite element analysis software ANSYS to do detailed theoretical analyses and study on the gear measurement center. First, used the finite element method(FEM) to establish the FEM model of the gear measurement center based on simplification of the interface between movement components assembly. Second, the modal analysis is made for achievement of the low order natural frequencies and the mode of vibration. Then harmonic analysis of the measurement frame is performed according to the modal analysis results. The study not only provides theoretical support for high stiffness and stability mechanism, but also offers exact data for realization of control system. Third, the static analysis is performed for different operating mode. The largest measurement error is obtained by analyze the elastic deformation results of the gear measurement center.Application of the finite element method for static and dynamic analysis of structure will provides theoretical support of design of gear measurement center. The method studied in the paper will give a more appropriate and efficiency way for developing the apparatus.
