With the rapid development of urbanization, the original surface of the city hasundergone tremendous changes, an outstanding performance of which is that theimpervious area is greatly increased. The increase of impervious area leads to the increaseof runoff flow, and the ahead of flood-peak time. The complex succession of changesfrequently brings about water logging in the flood season. Meanwhile, thestill-accumulating contaminants on the city surface will be washed and rinsed into runoff,and cause serious water pollution.In this paper, Dalian was chosen as the research object. The characteristics of rainfalland runoff rules in Dalian urban were be Investigated and analyzed in this paper. The totalamount of runoff flow in Dalian urban in2012was calculated by using SCS model andComprehensive Runoff Coefficient Method. Investigation and analysis of runoff pollutionsituation in some cities of China had been taken as well. The total pollutants amount ofrunoff in Dalian urban in2012was calculated. Some corresponding engineering andnon-engineering measures were suggested to be taken to solve the runoff problem. AsDalian is suffering from water shortage, it is very necessary to utilize rainwater.(1) The annual precipitation in Dalian urban varies greatly; the average annualrainfall is618.7mm. Also, the precipitation of each mouth in Dalian urban differs greatlyand the rainfall mainly concentrated in the June-September.(2) Strong rainfall in a short time often leads to a large amount of runoff flow, and itis the main cause of urban flood and waterlog, which should be given adequate attention.Utilize LID measures to improve the performance of urban road, roof and otherimpervious surface, can greatly reduce runoff.(3) The total amount of runoff flow in Dalian urban in2012is calculated as1.57x108cubic meters. The prospect of utilization of rainwater resources is worth waiting.(4) The total pollutants amount of runoff in Dalian urban in2012is calculated asflows: SS35410.61t/a, COD29316.30t/a: TN784.46t/a and TP144.40t/a. Comparedwith the total pollutants amount of sewage in Dalian city in2012, the proportions of SS,COD, TN and TP respectively are39%,24%,8%and21%. Faced with severe runoff problem, we should learn from the advanced managementconcepts and control measures from domestic and abroad.take a series of engineering andnon-engineering measures to solve the problem of runoff pollution, and explore to achievethe utilization of rainwater resource actively.
