Study On Urban Surface Runoff Pollution In Lanzhou

With the acceleration of urbanization , the pollution of urban surface runoff has recently got much urgent attention . The research overseas has showed that the urban surface runoff has played an important role on surface water pollution . After the effective controlling of the point sources pollution , the significance of this impact will be more obvious.Urban surface runoff, one of the important constitutions of the non-point source has been studied in this thesis . After summarying some domestic and overseas studies , this thesis introduced the concept and characters of urban surface runoff. Estimating runoff is a key step to calculate pollutant loads . Runoff curve number method , an empirical model to estimate the runoff, which was developed by USDA SCS was used in this thesis to estimate the runoff of differently covered unit plots . By monitoring on the spots , it analyzed the situation of the water pollution caused by urban surface runoff in lanzhou . It analyzed the relationships of the varieties of pollutants , and the variation of pollutant concentration with factors . Concentration method was used for eatimating the surface runoff loads . It also provided some effective methods to manage and control runoff.This study results can provid some foundational material and methods tor envitonmental administration to control surface runoff pollution and protect our environment more effectively.
