Thickened oil, which accounts for a large proportion in China, is characterizedby the high viscosity and large relative density. It is difficult to exploited andtransported because of the bad fluidity, thus the chemical viscosity reducer of heavyoil is of meaningful significance. This paper has described the synthesis of a kind ofviscosity reducer for Xinjiang Oil Production as well as the reaction conditions,represented the reducer, devaluated its performance, and lastly discussed themechanism of viscosity reduction process.Several series of polymers were produced by using alkyl methylacrylate withalkyl C18,styrene, maleic anhydride, acrylamide as basic reagents in this paper. Theeffect of copolymer viscosity was reviewed by the monomer ratio, reactiontemperature,initiator dosage,reaction time and product performance, thus theoptimum reaction conditions were confirmed:the solution polymerizing at thetemperature of75degree Celsius for5h when the initiator dosage is2%(w/w) and thesubstance mass ratio of quadripolymer is5:1:3:2. The method has advantages inshort step,high conversion, low cost and great economic benefit. The structure andproperty of the products were tested by IR spectroscopy and Molecular weightapparatus. The oil soluble viscosity reducer was combined with surfactant ordemulsifier and evaluated, the result showed that the combination effect of polymerand hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide was better than others.When themass ratio of polymer to hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium Bromide was1:0.8,the best result achieved at the rate of64.80%.Finally, the mechanism of oil-soluble viscosity reducer was exploredtentatively.The results showed that the viscosity was reduced through the interactionof viscosity reducer with resinand and asphaltene, besides,the average molecularweight,the polar group and the ester chain also have effect on the viscosityreduction....
