Iron printing machine is widely used in printing industry. It is a complex, bulky and sophisticated equipment. With the improvement of people’s demand for printing’s quality, high-speed and high-precision has become a trend of iron printing machine. For the exiting problems in iron printing machine, the high-speed iron printing machine was designed based on virtual prototype in this paper. The main research contents include:(1) Structure design of iron printing machine’s key parts. According to the analysis of printing machine’s working principle, the structure and layout of printing machine was designed. Cylinder’s structure was designed based on related information and product’s size. The positioning principle of front guide was analyzed, and the contour of high-speed cam was designed. The position setup suitable for iron was designed.(2) The Rigid-Flexible multiply model of iron printing machine was built. According to the cylinder’s structure designed and the exiting structure of body frame, the structure of iron printing machine’s body frame was determined preliminarily. Every part’s 3D model was built and assembled in ADAMS. The flexible body of frame, gripper bar and blanket were built. The Rigid-Flexible multiply model was built finally in ADAMS.(3) The simulation analysis and improved design for Rigid-Flexible multiply model. The kinematics, dynamics and vibration of iron printing machine was analyzed in ADAMS. Defects of the initially design were found based on the simulation analysis of the model. The cylinder’s optimization model was built based on design defects reflected during the analysis of model. Cylinder’s structure was optimized. Topology optimization of frame, and then, the frame’s new structure was built and its structure size was optimized. Gripper bar’s material was changed, two supporting mounts were designed between gripper bar and impression cylinder. The new virtual prototype model of iron printing machine was built and analyzed. According the results of the analysis, Iron printing machine was improved has good dynamic performance. The iron printing machine could meet the design requirements. Application of virtual prototyping technology has great value and significance to the development of our country’s iron printing machine industry.
