The amount of oxygen in flue gas of a heating furnace is one of the important parameters to measure whether the furnace is burning well or not. It directly affects the efficiency of the furnace and how much energy it consumes. If the amount of oxygen increases, it will show that there is too much extra air coming into the furnace. When the furnace discharges gases,large quantities of extra gas carry heat into the atmosphere so that the furnace loses much more heat and lower down the heating efficiency. While the furnace is working, because of the fuel constitution and the obvious seasonal change of the heat loads, the amount of air the furnace needs to burn is accordingly changes, and then it influences the amount of the oxygen in the flue gas of the furnace and the change of the extra air ratio. The change greatly influences heat loss of the furnace while letting out flue gas and its incomplete chemical burning and the heat efficiency as well.The controlled parameter of the burner while it is working is mainly the flow rate of both burning gas and assistant burning air. If the flow rate of the air is too high, it will lower down the temperature of the flame and thus increase the heat loss and oxidize the chamber and heating pipes. If the flow rate is too low, it will lead to incomplete burning of the fuel so that it can’t meet the technology requests and much combustible gas and carbon monoxide still remains in the flue gases, which not only causes heat loss in the waste gas but also it will waste energy and pollute the environment severely and even corrode the equipment. If this kind of flue gas can not be removed in time, maybe explosion will happen. Therefore, how to control the proportion of air and burning gas while burning is happening is the key factor.So we do some research to consistently, exactly and steadily measure the oxygen amount in the flue gas by using monitoring devices. Meanwhile, according to the statistics from the research, in course of the dynamic heat load changing we use the transformed controller of the burner to automatically adjust and well control the dynamic proportion between the air and fuel so as to keep the oxygen amount in the flue gas in the best rang and therefore effectively raise the heating efficiency of the furnace. This paper chooses Heat Furnace 2# of GS station in the oil-transporting department to transform. In this department,now there are 8 pipe-furnaces in all, which undertake the task of heating the crude oil transported with pipes. Because the condensation point of the crude oil in A is high and it isa long distance between oil transporting stations, heat furnaces play an important role in transporting and producing the oil. In the early period of finishing the project, after the data collection、technology demonstration、relevant software exploration and the concerning spot device installation and trial run, the project is carried out in Heat Furnace 2# of GS station in the oil-transporting department. After the running for half a year, the transformed burner and monitoring 、controlling systems are going on smoothly and steadily.
