In the wet-type mineral processing, the high efficiency thickener of central transmission is an important kind of dewatering equipment, mainly used in the process of concentration enrichment and tailings dehydration. At present, the high efficiency thickener of central transmission has formed series products,including several models of thickener such as concentrated tank diameter of35 m, 38 m, 40 m, 45 m, 48 m, 53 m, and so on. Drive mechanism is an important mechanism which influence the working efficiency of thickener, because it’s the power source of harrow frame operating. Therefore, applying the parametric design idea into the research and design of thickener can improve product design efficiency, shorten the design cycle and promote the development of machine industry, which has very important theoretical and practical significance.Firstly, divide into modules. Base on the analysis of the structure and function of driving mechanism of the high efficiency thickener of central transmission, adopting the method of modular design, the system is divided into the drive shaft desktop module, motor module, reducer module, bearing module and small gear module, etc.Secondly, establish database. According to the initial parameters, such as the diameter and depth of thickener, maximum torque, the largest linear velocity of harrow frame and so on, the models and sizes of parts of drive mechanism was chosen by checking data and calculating, thus the Access databases of various modules was established.Finally, establish the 3d parametric model and assembly. Using parametric modeling method based on dimension driven, reading Access database through ADO technology, making VB programs with the help of macro recording technology to call Solidworks API functions, the parameterized models of drive mechanism was established. Then put all the parts and components into a driving mechanism by using the bottom-up design method.This paper regard the drive mechanism of efficient thickener of center transmission as the research object, using Access database as the backgrounddata and the object-oriented high-level programming language VB6.0 as development tools, a three-dimensional parameterized system was established through the secondary development of the 3 d CAD software Solidworks 2008,to realize the rapid design of the drive mechanism of thickener.
