Semantic Study Of Attire For Female College Students Based On Their Physical Characteristics

Due to the development of social unltural form, more and more college students try to show their personalized styles and focus more on whole fitness in terms of matching. In order to satisfy their individual needs of the consumers.In this research paper,I use semiotics as the theoretical basis, and apply the symbolic role of theory into body shape and style of costume design and collocation. Different constituent elements of costume, such as: clothing color,clothing shapes(contours, amount of sense, proportion), clothing and other fabrics can be expressed by a symbol, and re-combined to produce a different costume styles semantics.This study focuses on female college student and analyzes the data from a random sample of 200 measurements on chest, waist, hips, shoulder and others. Through appropriate research methods, female college students’ body shape is divided into eight categories, with different body shape expressed by a specified “symbol”, visualizing the features of the body shape. This research aims to analyze the female body shape and the costume style, and symbolic and semantic content of matching, and extend the semantic of the relationship between those two. It further exposes the dressing misunderstanding, and expands practical value of this semantic mode, which reflects the significance of this work.Rely on the theoretical bases of semiotics, fashion design, product semantics, attire aesthetics, and body shape analysis, this paper studies the relationship between shape body or shape body formed various semantics module of costume and style of costume. Furthermore,it explores the semantic extension of the physical characteristics of the female college students and proposes new forms of design methods and application system for female college student body shape matching. Combining the Java, Sql server(SQL), Fireworks,Photoshop and PHP and other system software, it designs a website system to appropriately match the female college student body shape and attire style that can clearly select the type of shape to provide attire styles and match collocation method and to quickly generate matching models through corresponding pictures. Such a "personal image consultant" of the system software helps "consumers" to lift the dressing troubles and plays a better guide. In the future,this system can be improved comprehensively in term of the overall image design andcontent-enrichment, thus making the system more practical with real significant value.
