China is one of the ancient civilizations of the world, and it’s four greatest technology inventions- The compass, Papermaking, Gunpowder and Printing had not only promoted the development of Chinese civilization but also lead the civilization of the word to a new era. Karl Heinrich Marx once said:"The compass, Papermaking, Gunpowder and Printing-these three great inventions is a warning of bourgeois society’s coming." Gunpowder blew up the Knight class, The compass opened up the world market and established colonies, Printing was the protestant tools, On the whole these inventions had became the methods of scientific renaissance and created a necessary premise for spiritual development, and become the most powerful levers to promote cultural development. Marx’s viewpoint is basically for Europe, at the same time this also indicates that China’s four great inventions produced great influence on the development of Europe.Printing as a medium for the spread of civilization, spread China’s science and technology, especially it’s spread to Europe, not only for China and Europe, but also has a profound impact on the world. China’s Yuan and Ming dynasty is overall development stage of Block printing and movable type printing technique, and this also is an unprecedented flourish stage that China direct contact with Europe. The west spread of China’s Printing play an important role in Europe’s Engraving printing. Until the 15th century German goldsmith Gensfleisch zur Laden zum Gutenberg invented the Lead movable type technique, than Movable type printing was gradually popularized in Europe, and this had extremely far-reaching impact to the European Renaissance, the scientific revolution and reformation. In the process of research, this paper used the methods of analysis and synthesis, induction and analogy, by reading ancient documents and archaeological materials, in search evidence of Chinese Printing produced importance for Europe, describe the development of Printing of ancient China and its spread to Europe. At the end of the paper the author also analyses the effects of the spreading of Printing on both China and Europe.
