Present thesis focuses on solving the problem of dust-rising on bulk material yards in steel industry. The progress on development of the dustrising suppressant in China and abroad is reviewed, and its function mechanism and the significance of applying dust-rising suppressants in practice are also discussed. Considering the status in the bulk material yards of Chinese domestic steel industry, formulary of suppressants based on acrylic acid, promoted by several functional reagents are designed for testing. A formula excelled in film-forming at lab conditions is chosen for assessment of the critical indexes, like viscosity, frost resistance, high-temperature resistance, rain resistance, sun-shinning resistance, permeability, damage resistance, wind resistance in simulated outdoor conditions. The viscosity of 5MPa?s, film integrity at 60 ℃, and a good resistance to evaporation is obtained for the optimized formula.Several times of field tests are hold in a domestic steel enterprise for demonstration of the real functionality of the lab-developed product. The data obtained are feed-backed for adjustment and modification of the formula. Thus optimized product is subjected again to 4 times large scale field tests. The performances of the product on suppressing of dust-rising, UV resistance, raining proofness, film-forming and stickiness properties are testified and assured.The field tests have proved that the product can greatly reduce the dust-rising in the yard,and film can stand the heavy rain and windy tests with the film integrity maintained for over one-month, which effects are far beyond the methods originally used. The dust-rising suppressant is featured by simple applying, widely available in feeds, easy market promoting, meanwhile cost much less than the foreign rivals. The product is now available in the market and has achieved a realistic outcome.
