The mine fire accident situation is very serious in our country. There have been defects in fire-fighting technology for long time both in China and abroad. This article proposes a new kind of technology called foamed gel after the analysis of fire characteristics and technology at the present stage. The foamed gel possesses not only the extinguishing effectiveness and high-temperature resistance of gel, but also the liquidity and sealing characteristics of foams. Environmental-friendly coagulation in foamed gel is non-corrosiveness. Moreover, the advantage that there is no NH4 diverges from foamed gel can protect workers from damage.The environmental-friendly foamed gel was made and characteristics were studied based on the theories of Surface Chemistry, Thermodynamics and Theory of the Electron. A coagulant preparing for making foamed gel was firstly selected according to the Colloid Chemistry. Foamed gel with a 2.65 times expansion was produced after the confirmation of composite foaming agents. Influence factors containing concentration,temperature and gas flow rate was studied in Test-tube Method. The thermostability of foamed gel in different conditions was tested. Kinetic equations in different stages were studied. Reasons why foamed gel was better than gel in thermostability were analyzed;Conclusion that foamed gel can cut off the pressure of combustible gas was obtained by using test system of plugging; Foamed gel reflects better efficiency of fire suppression than gel because of its excellent adhesive strength and special coverage.Environmental-friendly foamed gel is a good technology because of the advantages such as liquidity, coverage, thermostability and nontoxic. The analysis of results and the establishment of the model may provide some reference.
