For China’s iron ore reverse flotation using high temperature waste of energy and high iron grade of flotation tailings, laboratory has developed several new reverse flotation collectors and studied their collecting performance to quartz. At the same time, the flotation adsorption mechanism was researched systematically, in order to improve iron ore flotation adsorption theory.The flotation behavior of quartz was investigated through the pure mineral flotation experiments by using DBA-1, DBA-2, DMA-1, DMA-2, DJW-1, DJW-2 as collectors.The granularity used -0.074+0.038mm and -0.038mm.The six collectors can collect quartz without activators.The amount of collector tests:in the -0.074+0.038mm size flotation texts, DBA-1, DBA-2, DMA-1, DMA-2, DJW-1 and DJW-2 collectors got the best effect,when the collectors concentration is 75mg/L,31.25mg/L,50mg/L,25mg/L,187mg/L and 750mg/L, it obtained maximum quartz recovery.And if continued to increase the amount of collectors, the recovery rate tended to be stable. In the -0.038mm size flotation texts, the amount of collectors need more than the the -0.074+0.038mm sizepH had a great influence on the change of flotation of quartz:in -0.074+0.038mm grade, in a variety of collectors optimum pH, the flotation recovery rate reaches above 99%. Cationic collector had good effect between pH 4-10.5. When the value of pH in less than 4, recovery rate dropped to 30%, and even close to 0. PH was greater than 11, the recovery rate dropped to below 80%; Collecting agent in the range of pH 8-11 had high recovery rate of two kinds of anionic collectors.The size of -0.038mm, four kinds of cationic collector collector has high recovery in the range of pH to 10.5 for the neutral rate inside. But the two anionic collector in the pH value range of 3 to 11 within the recovery rate can reach more than 90%.The six cationic collectors collected quartz without activator; The rate can reach above 97%in optimal conditions under -0.074+0.038mm grade; the size of -0.038mm can be close to 100%.With the increase of temperature, collector flotation agent on quartz increases. Flotation temperature at 18℃,-0.074+0.038mm grade, except DBA-2 five collectors had good collecting effect to quartz at lower temperature,;in -0.038mm grade, the six collectors had good performance.Analysis of mechanism of collectors:in infrared spectroscope, DBA-1, DBA-2, DMA-1, and DMA-2, the four cations on the surface of the quartz collector was mainly electrostatic and hydrogen adsorption. DJW-1, DJW-2, the two kinds of anion collectors is mainly hydrogen adsorption and chemical adsorption.After joining six types of collectors, quartz surface contact angle get larger, and the floatability of quartz had undergone tremendous changes, so that they increase the floatability. With quartz collectors, there existed a critical sensitive areas of contact angle and very small changes can lead to the recovery of huge change. The result showed that quartz during this critical sensitive areas was between 20-30°.After arresting of DBA-1, DBA-2, DMA-1, DMA-2, quartz surface electric potential significantly to positive direction to 10.1,9.47,9.13 and 9.54. This showed, collector on the surface of quartz occur the adsorption, the quartz surface potential rising; After the two anionic collectors, the point was offset to the 5.41, and 4.95. In the range of pH 2.00-12.00, collectors can be adsorbed on the surface of quartz. And the two anionic collectors without Ca2+ insisted that there was a hydrogen bonding adsorption and chemical adsorption of DJW-1 and DJW-2.
