Centrifugal separator is one of the most important preparation equipments in gravity separation field. According to mineral’s different features of physical, physicochemical and chemical property, gravity concentration is a process of valuable mineral’s selection. With the introduction of the centrifugal force, the separation effect and efficiency of the mineral aggregate in the centrifugal separator has been largely enhanced. Hence, it can be wildly used in the mineral processing field.The article is concerning an expansion project of dressing plant which owns 32sets of centrifugal separators. In order to enhance the handling capacity and beneficiation efficiency, we use 2m type. This project gets the centrifugal separator working by controlling the variable frequency motor with the PLC frequency converter. This method is easy-handled, energy-conservative, and has high efficiency. At the same time, in order to control and watch, combining the current technological situation and the need of the production, a 2m centrifugal machine control system scheme is designed, which is "touch screen+PLC+frequency converter+internet+controlled member". This design has advanced technology, which can make the mineral processing management high efficient, ready, and energy-conservative.In order to obtain the key parameters of the control system, the author in this paper studies the basic working principle, separation principle and the current development situation of 2m frequency-variation type centrifugal separator and obtains through experiments the information of the key parameters influencing the separation results.To meet the project requirements and cost control, the author uses Schneider ModiconM340 programmable controllers, for the requirement of the remote and local control of 32 centrifuges, designs the control system according to the principle of appropriate centralization, and adopts the one for four design scheme, namely one programmable controller is installed in a control cabinet controlling 4 centrifugal separators. At the same time, Modbus field bus switching technology is used to achieve communication between the programmable controller and inverterHMI technology is introduced in order to facilitate the control and monitoring and to realize the visualization and traceability of system working conditions, and more convenient setting of the system working parameters. The programmable controller networks with the host computer in the monitoring center through the Ethernet interface, which forms a larger scale rapid control network and realizes real-time monitoring and control.By combining the characteristics of the 2m centrifugal separator, this thesis designs systematically the control system of the 2m frequency centrifugal separator, makes the control system easy-handled, high efficient, user-friendly, real-time monitoring, and reliable with the application of the PLC and the equipment of the HMI. This analysis makes sure that the enterprise can achieve their production goals, enhance the efficiency, save the energy, and create huge economic and social benefits. And it also has great implications to the mode of controlling massively the work of the centrifugal separator.
