Hoist is one of the main means for transporting personnel, coal gangue and materials, which is known as the key to the connection of the ground and the mine well. Since the invention of Multi-rope Friction Hoists, it has been widely in many areas for its compact and reasonable structure, small volume, big force in lifting and high safely coefficient. However, one of the most serious problems in the practice of hoists is the unbalance of the tensions in hoisting ropes, which can affect the safety operation of the hoists and coal mine. The monitoring and diagnosis of rope tension unbalance trouble for multi-rope hoist is also one of the necessary works for the safe operation of hoists.At present, the monitoring and diagnosis of rope tension unbalance trouble for multi-rope hoist is still unclear and undefined in production, the method used is not subjective, operation process is not standard, the method for calculation also has some inaccuracy. What’s more, the information collection for multi-rope hoist ropes associated with diagnosis of tension unbalance not so closely. Therefore, it’s necessary to analysis the source of error and its correction, design the monitoring and diagnosis system of tension unbalance trouble for multi-rope hoist ropes.This paper analyzes the tension of hoist ropes based on vibration wave method according to the enterprise production, and then develop the monitoring and diagnosis system of rope tension unbalance trouble for multi-rope hoist in order to monitor and diagnose the tension unbalance. The main research results are as follows:First of all, this article design the framework and function of the system as well as the hardware and software, which including the selection of sensor and Industrial Personal Computer, the system development model and development environment. All of these provide a foundation for following more complex systemic developmentsSecondly, this paper analyzes the error source for information collection and its influence, then chooses suitable sensor, studies and improves the calculating troubles of vibration wave period, strengthen the links between information collection and tension calculation, then realizes the functions such as saving and displaying data. This system application may facilitate the staffs directly know the state of hoist ropes.What’s more, the article proposes a distance monitoring system of rope tension unbalance, which could realize tension calculation by using the collected information, in the use of combinational algorithm to determine trends and projections for the same time, then analysis the reasons of unbalanced tension and its adjustment.Finally, experiment the whole monitoring and diagnosis system both in laboratory and the application of hoists. The result shows that rope tension unbalance exists in the practice of hoist, the status of rope tension unbalance is changing with time. And improve the method for vibration wave period calculation is necessary and feasible, through this method we can calculate rope tension rapidly. Then summarize the inadequacies of the system and introduce the further researches.
