Study On Functions And Wearability Of Sun Protection Clothing Fabrics

Sun protection clothing are some special UV textiles,and they have become widely accepted in recent years.The fabrics are soft and thin,which are weaved by 15 D,20D or more lighter yarns.11 kinds of different specifications of nylon sun protection clothing fabrics were chosen in the paper,including 4 kinds of 15 D fabrics and 7 kinds of 20 D fabrics,to make a deep study and analysis on UV resistance and wearing characteristics.Make a test on the parameters of fabrics and analysis the UV resistance.It was found that only 1# fabric were UV products,the rest didn’t meet sub-standard.UV finishing to the nonattainment fabrics and found 6# and 11#fabrics became UV products.Although the rest didn’t,they all got very good UV protection rating.It showed that UV finishing had a significant effect on UV protection.After a certain washing times,UV resistance of the fabrics reduced,UV durability of 1# fabrics was worse than the others.Fabrics’ physical and mechanical properties were tested,and found nylon fabrics had higher bursting strength,better wear resistance and anti-pilling performance,but lower tearing strength.UV finishing had a significant effect on physical and mechanical properties,while the exterior performance didn’t.The comfort properties of these fabrics were tested,including air permeability,moisture absorption,thermal conductivity,water resistance and antistatic property,found that the fabrics had good thermal conductivity,poor moisture permeability and water absorption,2#,4#,5#,9#fabrics had better permeability than the others, good water resistance but poor resistance to washing,good antistatic property and durability.UV finishing had a significant effect on the properties above,for the main reason was the UV finishing reduced the porosity of the fabrics.The smaller porosity,the poorer breathable and moisture permeable of the fabrics.On the other hand,subjective evaluation tests were designed to analysis fabrics feel and subjective comfort.It showed that nylon sun protection clothing fabrics were soft,weak hairiness and fullness.UV finishing had no significant effect on fabric feel.On comfort evaluation test,the fabrics were comfortable without sweating,while they were feel uncomfortable when people sweated.
