Tobacco sheet is reconstituted tobacco that is environmentally friendly and able to reduce the content of harmful substances in tobacco. Reconstituted tobacco paper pro-duction technology is known as having good social and economic benefits at home and abroad. Reconstituted tobacco paper production technology in Europe and America has entered a mature stage, production line automation is very high with intelligence infor-mation. The level of domestic papermaking tobacco sheet production automation is un-even, more intelligence information is in great demand. Tobacco sheet plant manufac-turing execution system has very important significance.At first this paper does in-depth research and analysis of the current demand and research development status at home and abroad about manufacturing execution system, and describes the working principle of MES. The whole product development process modules and sub-modules of MES are elaborated, focusing on detail deconstruction analysis for modules and their input and output data as well as the working mechanism and control principle. The next step is applying these standards to the design and devel-opment of MES for tobacco sheet plant.Then the overall study and design for tobacco sheet factory manufacturing execu-tion system is performed. Analysis of problems in production according to the existing production technology and production status is reflected in information isolation and information faultage. To overcome problems of these two areas and meet the various components of tobacco sheet plant manufacturing execution system, the content of the MES framework is studied, a number of functional modules are designed, specific im-plementation steps are listed. Design of hardware structure and hardware building up are also performed, so that we have a basis for further implementation of the next steps.Next is resolving the key issues tobacco sheet factory MES encountered in the course, including upgrade of a number of backward process sections to adapt infor-mation integration environment, revamp of the existing communications network and building Ethernet communication network for manufacturing execution system, and ex-tension of manufacturing execution system from the productive sector to maintenance, quality control, laboratory and energy supply sector, to complement the missing seg-ments of plant-wide information integration.Then manufacturing execution system software platform is set up and imple-mented, using three core software including GE Proficy iFIX, Historian and Plant Ap-plication. iFIX automation network accomplishes automatic acquisition and storage of the underlying data through the existing production equipment. Historian achieves uni-fied management of data, configuration, and archiving, building up the whole plant his-torical database. Plant Application software realizes each module of MES, including production management, quality management, and batch management. Tobacco sheet plant manufacturing execution system is built from the bottom to the top through three complementary software.Finally, data from the operation of the system are analyzed, and the effect of im-plementation of the system was evaluated. Operation data is mainly reflected in product yield, product quality, fault response time, fault repair time, trouble-free operation time. The system has greatly improved and enhanced in these aspects, reducing the failures caused by human factors.This paper uses application of MES in a tobacco sheet manufacturing enterprise as a case study, designs and implements customized manufacturing execution system. Through achieving high degree of system integration, excellent scalability, reliability and stability, real-time data acquisition and plant-wide history database, the informati-zation and management level of the enterprise is greatly improved.
