At present, China is the largest country of steel production and consumption in the world. But the logistics techniques of iron and steel enterprises in China are relatively backward, which has greatly restricted the development of China’s iron and steel industry. Hot metal transport plays a major role in the logistics of steel industry, among which molten iron production transported by torpedo car is the most important way. The main problem that restricts torpedo car scheduling is the staffs cannot timely get status information and location information.To solve this problems, based upon the existing logistics tracking system of a steel plant, a torpedo car location and tracking systems is designed, which is on the base of differential global positioning system(DGPS) and electronic sensing technology, and it can collect all kinds of information of torpedo car effectively. The general studies are unfolded as follows:Firstly, by analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of the existing locomotive localization algorithm, a location and tracking algorithm of torpedo car based on DGPS and electronic sensing technology is proposed. It mainly includes two parts:vehicle positioning algorithm and tracking algorithm of torpedo car. Vehicle positioning algorithm which is based on the DGPS location and Track circuit location has the advantages of high precision and good robustness; tracking algorithm of torpedo car is based on electronic sensing device. Besides the electronic sensing device includes electronic mount device and vehicle train detector, which can also build a set of radio frequency communication networks for realizing the real-time positioning and tracking of the torpedo car.Secondly, through the study of existing systems of a steel plant, a torpedo car location and tracking system is designed. The electronic induction device is assembled on the locomotive and torpedo car ends, a series of related software and interface is developed to facilitate the communication with other systems. At the same time, the system can not only get the state and position information of the torpedo car in time, but also it can automatically troubleshoot,locate the communication fault of electronic mount device and the fault of pick-up hitch, which improves torpedo car turnover and the scheduling efficiency.Finally,through the comprehensive study of multi-threaded programming techniques, and the transport process modeling of railway station and torpedo car, the simulation software of torpedo car positioning tracking system is developed to verify the algorithm correctness and practicability.
