Rapid economic development in Chongqing since it became a municipality, however,environmental issues continue to emerge, Chongqing is located in the heart of the weak ecological environment of Three Gorges reservoir area, Sustainable development of regional economy and society pay more and more people’s attention.A key area of research for sustainable development is how to quantify the size of the ecological carrying capacity, which is an important basis for judging whether the region’s sustainable, but also heavy and difficult to study. Through evaluate and explore the changes of the ecological carrying capacity development in Chongqing history years, we can understand the development and evolution of the state of the ecosystem and draw a reasonable measure of the current state of development in Chongqing.Identify the gaps between Chongqing and Sustainable Development, thereby to achieve targeted, propose appropriate measures. From the ecological carrying capacity of the basic content, combined with the geographical features to build bearing capacity evaluation model and index system to evaluate the ecological carrying capacity in Chongqing, the main contents included:(1) Sort out the development ofindex system theory and analysis the applicability. Through literature review, research target system changes and its development in the early application of Ecological Carrying Capacity, combs the development and evolution of the index system, analysis the applicability of different models.(2) Establish the ecological carrying capacity assessment model of Chongqing. Use classification evaluation ideas, combined with Chongqing geographical characteristics and status of resources, social development,define the bearing receptors and carry intermedium in Chongqing ecosystem and analysis the relationship between them. Sequentially selected assimilative capacity of the environment, human resources, supply capacity and the ability to support three sub-objectives and corresponding criteria layer tobuild Chongqing regional ecological carrying capacity classification evaluation model.(3) Construction of subsystem ecological carrying capacity evaluation.Follow certain scientific principles, with its own development characteristics of Chongqing and the actual situation of data collection, targeted to select a range of indicators, Target layer to establish evaluation index system to reflect the information of each respective criterion layer; Pretreatment standardized to the collected data, determine the index weight using analytic hierarchy Process(AHP).(4) Comprehensive evaluation of Chongqing environmental assimilative capacity are as follows: Comprehensive environmental carrying capacity within the study period in the overall increase in the state, but not smooth, environmental carrying capacity in Chongqing situation is still grim.(5)The evaluation of resource supply capacity are as follows:the ability to supply various resources in Chongqing showed a steady upward trend, one that is worth carrying water status by the year fluctuations affect runoff is very obvious, and therefore protected from pollution runoff is the key to improve the supply capacity of the resource.(6)The evaluation of human ability to support are as follows: between 2003-2014 years, Chongqing GDP、environmental investment and other indicators increased significantly,human ability to support had a great development.(7)Put forward regulatory pathways of ecological carrying capacity and the follow sustainable development comments and suggestions.The study on ecosystem of Chongqing accounting the ecological capacity, reflecting the carrier status of the regional ecosystem in Chongqing, provides a theoretical basis for Chongqing future sustainable development and macro-control plan, has a certain practical significance.
