As a set of precision machining equipment, the power ultrasonic honing device brings great advantages in the processing of the inner circle surface of the automobile engine cylinder liner. With the development of automobile industry, it has very broad application prospect. Because of the different models and the various sizes of the engine cylinder liner, parametric design of the device is required in order to avoid the power ultrasonic honing device which may be repeatedly designed for different types.The parametric design method of product level is studied in this paper, which includes module division, top-down product design, context assembly design, etc, to complete the design process of power ultrasonic honing device. According to this process, on the basis of the analysis of the structure and function, the device is divided into four different modules, and the parameters of the parts of each module are analyzed. It aims at extracting global parameters and also determining the function relation among parameters. Then, the parametric design technology in the NX environment is researched in this paper, mainly including: the design of control system for the device, parametric modeling resorting to expressions and parametric modeling of components using UG/WAVE geometric linker. These methods are used for the parametric design of top-down power ultrasonic honing device to further establish parametric models.As the foundation of the NX second development technology and Template Studio Product application technology, the visual interface between the components and the whole device is developed respectively and a reusable template for the device is also established. This achieves the rapid changes in the parameters and the rapid update of the model.Finally, Workbench ANSYS and NX are connected in this paper. Through analyzing the power ultrasonic honing device horn, this paper shows the rapid design process with the use of NX in the parametric model and analysis software.
