With the purpose of extending the shelf-life of agaricus bisporus, a biodegradable blend film was prepared and applied in the equilibrium modified atmosphere packaging (EMAP) of agaricus bisporus. At the earlier stage of the work, Poly (ε-caprolactone) (PCL) films with different drawn ratios were prepared, and the thermal, barrier and mechanical properties of the PCL films were evaluated. This is the groundwork of this paper. At the later stage of the work, which was based on the groundwork, PPC with the percent of 0%,20% and 50% was added to the PCL. respectively. Thus, the PCL/PPC blend films with the thickness of 40μm and 60μm were prepared and the thermal, barrier and mechanical properties of the PCL/PPC blend films were evaluated. The result showed that the barrier and mechanical properties of the PCL film were improved due to the addition of PPC.The results of the groundwork showed that the PCL films have poor barrier property. The PCL film which has a drawn ratio of 3 showed a better oxygen barrier property of 4.16×10-7 cm3·m/m2·d·Pa at 23℃ and 60% RH. While, The PCL film which has a drawn ratio of 5 showed a better water vapor barrier property of 4.16×10-cm3·m/m2·d·Pa at 23℃ and 60% RH.The results of the later experiments showed that the barrier properties of PCL films were improved with the addition of PPC. The film of PCL/PPC50-60 showed an oxygen property of 1.50×10-7cm3·m/m2·d·Pa, a carbon dioxide property of 1.18×10-6cm3·m/m2·d·Pa, and a water vapor barrier property of 1.15×10-5cm3·m/m2·d·Pa at 23℃.The PCL/PPC film showed Young’s modulus, tensile strength and elongation at break increased compared to that of the neat PCL film.The agaricus bisporus was packed in the films named by PCL-40. PCL/PPC20-40. PCL/PPC50-40. PCL-60. PCL/PPC20-60, and PCL/PPC50-60. Here, "20" and "50" indicated that the films with content of PCL of 20%and 50%. "40" and "60" indicated that the films with thickness of 40μm and 60μm. The unpacked agaricus bisporus was used as rhe control group. The result indicated that the agaricus bisporus packed in PCL/PPC20-60 and PCL/PPC50-60 films achieved a shelf-life of 21 days. During the storage, agaricus bisporus kept good sensory, lower loss rate of Vc content, and slow enzymatic browning.In a short, the PCL/PPC50-60 film can not only extend the shelf-life of agaricus bisporus, but also reduce the cost of production.
