With the continuous development of manufacturing industry, the requirement of gear dimensional accuracy and tooth face quality is continuously improved. Compared with gear grinding, internal gear honing can not only modify the profile and longitude error of the gears, but also generate the surface structure of tooth flank which improve the noise behavior of the gears. However, there are few studies about internal gear honing in China, and the honing machine now used in our country are mostly from aboard. In the course of this article, the theoretical studies about internal gear honing will be carried out and the static and dynamic simulation of Y4830CNC honing machine will be conducted to analysis the structure rationality of machine tool.There are four study points in this article:1. The tooth surface equation of honing stone is derived based on the contact equation of conjugate surfaces and that forms the analysis of the effect of variable axis angle about honing stone finishing process on relative velocity, contact lines and grit path on tooth surface.2. Considering the structure features of Y4830CNC honing machine, five bolted joint surfaces and eleven movement surfaces are chosen from machine tool to be identified the stiffness parameters and build the finite element modal of the honing machine.3. The value of radial force, tangential force and axial force are estimated based the measurement of machine tool in the honing process, and those forms the static simulation of the honing machine.4. The modal simulation of adding spring-damper elements and merging nodes to modeling joint surfaces is conducted to analysis the difference of natural frequency. The effect of variable stiffness values on each modal natural frequency is carried out and harmonic analysis of the honing machine is conducted to provide theoretical basis of choosing the rotating speed of honing stone spindle and work-piece spindle.
