Bond paper mainly includes securities, certificates, notes, trademarks, product brochures, anti-counterfeiting packaging etc. With the improvement of people’s living standards, the print quality requirements are also increasing.The printing effect of bond paper was impacted greatly by its surface properties. The pigment surface is a surface treatment method for sizing paper, can effectively improve the surface properties of the paper. This study, bond paper as the research object, to improve the security paper printing performance through the pigment surface sizing, without affecting the security paper watermark, security fibers and other security effectiveness conditions. Based on the above objectives, studied respectively the evaluation method of the rubber layer transparency, the sizing component selection, how the rubber transparency influenced by pigment surface, how the performance of the paper influenced by pigmented surface.First, a set of paper rubber method of transparency was studied in order to characterize the watermark, anti-counterfeiting fiber of the bond paper effectively. In the subject four methods of color printing method, chromatic aberration method,opacity method and transmission method were studied. The result showed that transmission rate was proved a effective method to represent the change of the rubber transparency quantitatively.Secondly, according to the transmission rate method, studied the selection of the sizing liquid components. Pigment and sizing agent developed what meeting the requirements of this subject of sizing liquid components. The result showed that the PVA as sizing agent, nano-CaCO3, ground calcium carbonate for paint, which were mixed pigment surface sizing liquid, using on the bond paper surface sizing, was proved that not affect its anti-counterfeiting effect.Thirdly, with nano-CaCO3、ground calcium carbonate (95 GCC,85 GCC,65 GCC) for paint, PVA as sizing agent were mixed sizing liquid. Study the impact of the particle size, the proportion of sizing agent and pigment, sizing liquid solid content, amount of the surface sizing on the rubber transparency of the bond paper systematically. The results showed that pigment for nanometer calcium carbonate,95 GCC; Sizing agent and pigment ratio of 10:1; Sizing liquid solid content is 5%,8%,would not affect the bond paper anti-counterfeit effect in a reasonable range (TD≤10%) in this experiment.Then, with PVA as sizing agent, nano-CaCO3,95 GCC for pigment, sizing agent and pigment ratio of 10:1, makes sizing liquid. Discuss the impact of paint surface sizing on paper printing gloss, smoothness, ink absorbency and surface strength, the influence of the density of color printing from pigment size, sizing liquid solid content and resin consumption respects respectively. The result showed that PVA as sizing agent, nanometer calcium carbonate for paint, sizing agent and pigment of 10:1, sizing liquid solid content is 8%, sizing amount of 2.0g·m-2, the paper can obtain good printing effect(TD≤10%).In the end, the optimization of the formulation and application of sizing process was used as pigment surface sizing liquid on the anti-counterfeiting bond paper. By comparison with the base paper and factory finished paper, derived that pigment surface sizing can effectively improve the printing gloss, color density and ink absorbency of the anti-counterfeiting bond paper. Compared with the factory finished paper, the level of the printing gloss increased reached 57.8%, ink absorbency improved by 28.6%, color density also improved significantly. So, the printing effect of bond paper can be improved effectively by pigment surface sizing.
