The gear skiving method is based on the spiral gears meshing principle of two crisscross axis in space,the gears are machined through generating motion of tool and work piece.The processing efficiency of the gear skiving is higher than that of the traditional gear processing method and it’s processing range is wider. Especially for processing the internal teeth of the non-interpenetrated,gear skiving process has obvious advantages.Due to the working angle of the cutter is constantly changing during the machining process,so tool wear quickly.In this paper,beginning to research with work angle of the gear skiving tool,the working angle change of cutting tool in machining process is analyzed and the simulation software VERICUT is used to simulate the machining process of the gear skiving.Firstly,according to the basic principle of spatial meshing,setting up coordinate system of gear skiving,and the coordinate transformation between the tool coordinate system and the work piece coordinate system is deduced.The mathematical model of machining helical gear with spur cutter is established.Constructing tool cutting edge equation and the relative velocity of the point on the cutting edge is derived.According to the relationship between the relative velocity and the tool reference plane,establishing the relationship between tool structure angle and working angle,the expression of tool working angle is derived.Secondly,according to the processing parameters and tool working angle expression,the working rake angle and working relief angle of the tool cutting edge are calculated from cutting in the work piece to cutting out the work piece.The processing parameters that cause the change of tool working angle are analyzed.The influence of every processing parameter to the working angle of cutting tool was obtained by calculating.Finally,according to the motion relations of the each component from the actual gear skiving machine tool,establishing the virtual simulation model of gear skiving machine tool in VERICUT software. Selecting appropriate CNC machining system and programming NC program,then finishing machining simulation.Through analysis of numerical control simulation results,cutting characteristics of tool side edge are obtained.The shape of chip was obtained by Boolean operation.The simulation results are consistent with experimental results in Gear Skiving Method,the correctness of the simulation process is verified, which lays the foundation for further research of gear skiving.
