Cutting head is the key part of roadheader, whose main function is broken coal and rock on roadway. The working performance of the cutting head will directly affects the work efficiency and reliability of the machine. Therefore, establish the finite element model of pick according to its actual cutter geometry parameters and cutting conditions, and explore the influence of pick geometry and movement parameters on temperature and stress distribution, have important significance in optimizing pick structure, and improving its abrasion resistance. This paper focused on roadheader and established cutting simulation test bench according to the similarity theory. On the bench, simulation experiments have been taken to explore abrasion change rules under different cone angle and abrasion distribution of different parts. After observed the pick microscopically before and after cutting test, we analyzed the abrasion law preliminarily. With the explicit dynamic analysis module in finite element analysis software ABAQUS, we put the cone angle, cutting speed, cutting depth as variables to do the cutting simulation. With the post-processing module in ABAQUS, we got the animations and equivalent stress curves under different parameters of each parts, and the impact of each variable on the picks stress distribution after load statistical analysis. On this basis, thermo-mechanical coupled analysis of pick during the cutting process has been accomplished, and then explored the influences of cone angle, cutting speed, cutting depth on heat generation by comparing the temperature field nephogram of different parameters. Based on the research above, further analysis of influence factors on wear resistance has been made.Combined with theory, simulation and test, this article analyzed pick abrasion rule, andthe influence of structure and motion parameters on wear resistance, which provide theoretical basis for service life improvement and cutting parameters selection.
