As the CO2 emission from household consumption is an important source of CO2 emission in the country, which occupies more than 40% of total CO2 emission, this has caused more and more attention of scholars. In order to provide reference for the government to achieve targets of energy-saving and emission-reduction by adjusting the consumption structure and industrial structure, this paper uses the input-output method to measure indirect CO2 caused by Chinese household consumption and study factors influencing it, then study its transfer mechanism. Specific contents are as follows:(1) In terms of the CO2 emission measurement, this paper calculates the indirect CO2 emission caused by Chinese household consumption from the two aspects of the national and sectoral levels. It is found that firstly, the indirect CO2 emission is the main source of CO2 emission caused by Chinese household consumption. Secondly, the CO2 emission induced by per unit of urban household consumption is higher than that by per unit of rural household consumption. Thirdly, the eastern region produces the largest CO2 emission.(2) In terms of factors affecting the CO2 emission, this paper explores the factors influencing the indirect CO2 caused by household consumption from the national and sectoral levels. The results show that, the indirect CO2 emission is mainly driven by per capita household consumption and energy intensity, especially for sectors OTHERS, MFT, PDEH, WRHR, FFAF and TSP, whose CO2 emission are influenced most.(3) In terms of transfer mechanism of CO2 emission, this paper utilizes the Hypothetical Extraction Method(HEM) and the Multi Regional Input-Output(MRIO) respectively to study the sectoral and regional linkages of indirect CO2 emission. The results show that, firstly, sectors of PDEH and SPM play the major role in pushing CO2 emission of each sector in the national economy, and sectors of OTHERS and MFT are the key sectors in pulling CO2 emission of each sector. Secondly, the multiplier effect of CO2 emission in eastern region is the smallest and that in western region is the largest. The spillover effect of CO2 emission in eastern region is the lowest and that in the central is the highest respectively. Total feedback effect in the central region is the biggest of all regions.
