For the reason of spatial information sharing barriers and exchanging difficulties in the constructions and applications of integrated pipelines and professional pipelines information systems, referencing to the relevant standards, technologies and methods of Common Platform of Geographic Information, this paper first proposes the concepts of Common Platform of Geographic Information for City Underground Pipelines (hereinafter referred to as CPGI-CUP), and studies the classifications, codes and data dictionaries of the city underground pipelines geographic information features, geographic information web services, application programming interfaces and data exchange methods which are key technologies in CPGI-CUP.Works done in this paper are as follows:Firstly, analyzes the differences between professional pipelines and integrated pipelines GISs in semantic, geometric representation, data model and other aspects, and then proposes the connotation and technical framework of CPGI-CUP.Secondly, according to the different roles the city underground pipelines geographic information features plays in the geometric network model, forms the four-layers and six-bits classifications and codes of the city underground pipelines geographic information features which treat pipe, equipment, facility, and accessory as the core categories.Thirdly, forms a design process of the pipelines geographic information services from resources designing, resources representation to resources typical events, and builds the geographic information service architectures of REST styles; designs two types of application programming interfaces which think map control as the core or thinking tasks as the cores.Fourthly, analyzes the existing problems in data exchanges between integrated pipelines and professional pipelines information systems, and proposes two ways of data exchanges, which are based on data or services, and then uses XML as the data exchanges format and designs the xml schema of the pipelines data exchanges of CPGI-CUP.Finally, designs and implements a CPGI-CUP prototype system to verify the validity and availability of CPGI-CUP.
