The Expression Way Of Baoding Military School Square Public Space

With the strong consciousness of public’s participation in urban construction, the planningdesign and construction use efficiency of urban public space has been a major concern, andknown as "city sitting room" square. After astounding construction boom in the1990s, citysquare, as one of the highest use efficiency city space, has become more controversial becauseof a series of problems, such as square space scale, use properties, planning and design,construction and use efficiency, et al. This paper, in accordance with the city planning theoryof different categories, investigates and analyzes the “Square of Baoding Military Academy",from the definition of city square, city square design, city planning and design, landscapedesign, landscape ecological planning and design perspectives, in search of the rationality ofthe design of city square, aiming to assist city square planning and construction of China.This paper consists of four parts. First part mainly discusses the concept of city squareplanning development, analyzes the problems existing in modern city square construction,and briefly summarizes and compares the city square design research status and the researchmethods of this paper. The second one explains the concepts and theories of city squaredesign respectively, and summarizes the domestic and foreign development situation of citysquare. The third part follows with features of the “Square of Baoding Military Academy"design, and analysis from location, function, humanity, characteristic, ecological design,and benefit perspectives. At last the fourth part concludes the overall design concept of the“Square of Baoding Military Academy" and its benefits and value, specifies some existingproblems in the design and possible solutions.
