On the bases of automobile industry growth, more and more auto parts weredomestically produced. However, during this process, there is no suitable universalmachine tool for some special part manufacturing. Besides importing machines fromother countries, there is another choice for local company---design specializedmachine by themselves.High-pressure hose in vehicle brake system was purchased as CKD parts inChina during the past years. Since the whole motor-dom is seeking for low-cost, thecustomer also needs to find some local factory which can produce this part. There aretwo main parts of the high-pressure hose, body part and inner pipe, which combinedtogether by riveting. The external dimensions could not be changed after riveting,while the gas tightness is also an important aim, which need to meet the designrequirement.This article describes the design of the riveting machine, including mechanicaldesign, hydraulic system design and the electrical control system design.And applying ANSYS software to precede finite element analysis for the punchand frame, the result of the analysis will provides a design theory for the optimaldesign.The different punch and tooling are designed for2ways of riveting mode. In thedesign of the electrical control system, using as the core of SIEMENS S7-222, the useof electromagnetic valves and relays and other components to complete rivetingmachine control. Using the touch screen, we can easily set the parameters.Through ANSYS analyzing and experiments, we identified the best riveting wayand parameters.
