Since the new century, to speed up the development and utilization of marineresources has become an important strategic orientation. The development of theocean engineering industry in our country has made great progress,which has a gooddevelopment foundation in the ocean development of oil and gas equipment. Moreand more electrical propulsion offshore vessels take into the ocean engineeringconstruction, among them. the research and design of electric propulsion system is ofgreat importance for Marine engineering vessel’s overall performance and operatingreliability, especially for dynamic positioning ability of offshore vessels.Electrical propulsion vessels can realize starting fast, quick reversals, steplessspeed regulation, such as excellent control performance, combined with dynamicpositioning system, can realize the accurate location of the vessel. The Design ofElectrical Propulsion Dynamic System for Offshore Vessel with DP is difficult forredundancy, high reliability requirement, since there are many key technologies needto be solved. Now there is a lack of experience, insufficient research problem for thedesign of such vessels.For the semi-submersible offshore vessel as an example, through the vessel task,environmental conditions and relevant specification, the article has studied thethrusters’ arrangement, the single line power system plan, the dynamic positioningcapacity and the fault mode effect analysis and so on; and also including the designand calculation for the high voltage power station, dynamic positioning, powermanagement system and propulsion power; and the detailed elaboration of the generallayout for the equipment capacity estimation, DP capacity analysis. The article makesa special study on thrust power since the Electrical Power, Thruster Machine and thePropeller match. This paper summarizes the dynamic positioning vessel electricalpropulsion system and the general principles of general program design.Through sea trial and dynamic positioning test, and DNV failure mode effectsanalysis (FMEA), the vessel electrica; propulsion system design meet therequirements of IMO for DP2, harmonic control to meet the requirements of theclassification society and the vessel technical specification. In this paper, dynamicpositioning for the design of Marine engineering vessel electric propulsion system hasreference significance.
