The development of primary education has been influenced by manyfactors, including the economy, culture, education and so on. With the furtherdevelopment of quality education, primary education gradually put the focus on theinnovation and the mental health of children. However, most of the elementary school isstill designed in accordance with the traditional pattern of examination-orientededucation.On the other hand with the accelerated process of urbanization, many citiesbegin to build elementary schools, but the construction side and the designers have ablind pursuit of buildings, which only have new looks and basic functional requirements. At the same time, they ignore the children’s psychological needs of space and whether thebuilding can meet the open education philosophy has been ignored too.In this way, thedevelopment of innovative educational philosophy has been influenced to some extent. Thus, this paper studied the relationship between the children’s behavior andpsychological needs of the public space and summarized some of the design methods, which provides a basis for future elementary school design of public space. The authortries to summarize the primary consideration of the public space. The author has the attempt by the representative of the domestic primary fieldresearch in use is shown by the general issue, but separately from their general layout ofthe campus, indoor and outdoor public spaces were compared using the status quo afterthe analysis found that these issues are often at the same time exhibit the characteristics ofuniversality and particularity. Universality manifested in many typical general use issues, such as environmental space monotonous atmosphere, cordial enough spatial scale, lackof detail and design, it should be taken seriously enough and made some improvementapproach. Due to the special nature of the differences in the performance of the school’sown school conditions, educational philosophy and geographical environment, demonstrated problems vary, the problem needs to be analyzed according to the specificcircumstances. Since the scope of this paper is to study only from the perspective ofarchitectural design, not across other areas of these issues present a comprehensivesolution to the universal problem can only put forward their own views.First, the author focuses on the unique relationship between the primary interactionbehavior patterns and primary schools of public space, the following points are worthreading: (1)With the growth of age, children will show some differences. Children willgenerally choose their own partners in the same age as contacts in the interaction process. Therefore, the design process requires to set different playgrounds for different grades. The safety of children’s playgrounds should be put to the first place for lower grade andthe higher grade’s playgrounds are emphasized to mutual collaboration andcommunication skills.(2)space is often continuous and we need to grasp the characteristics of different spaces.Firstly, we should classify the space, And in this article we selected space according to thearea of space and we divided it into public space outside the teaching area, teaching areaof public space and the transition.(3)the space environment and psychological behavioral are related.communicationbehaviors are primarily important, the Interaction behavior is an inherent requirement forthe users,in this situation, architects need propose a more complete solution; at the sametime, the public space in the environment will have some impact on the users. Then the author analyze the design principles and practices of public elementaryschool space. By analyzing the foregoing summary of primary public space, hesummarized some design principles: the principle of integrity, hierarchy principle, theprinciple of accessibility, security policy, the principle of comfort, fun principle. Thenaording to different students in different spaces and spatial characteristics, hesummarized some strategies for children to create a better space, which is the core of thispaper.
