Shanghai is the birthplace of China’s modern architecture major, Shanghaineighborhood neighborhood witnessed the cultural and Western modern residentialarchitecture, from the reflection of Shanghai ’s own characteristic blend of Chinese andWestern culture, city life accommodated in a large neighborhood, reflects the strongcity social characteristics of the people. As a neighborhood street life behind its historicurban landscape, but also the city of Shanghai as the city ’s most unique features.Memory lane of life stretches several generations, has become the people of Shanghai ’smost distinctive geographical and cultural genes. Today, the city is increasingly rapiddevelopment of unconventional highlights the complicated contradictions neighborhoodprotection and renewal of facing difficulties, how to protect and promote the Shanghailocal history and culture, and earnestly safeguard the vital interests of the residents ofthe neighborhood street, has become a place in the majority of construction relatedpractitioners in front of an unavoidable, urgent problem.This paper uses a combination of research methods closely theory and practice, theuse of multi-disciplinary, multi-theoretical perspective integrate, maintainneighborhood impact against the government policy reform, economic trade-offs,benefit disadvantaged residents, city features to protect and promote other aspects, theuse of multi-disciplinary knowledge urban sociology, architecture, urban renewaltheory, community design theory, drawing a large number of domestic andinternational experience, and strive to find solutions in a comprehensive study ofcountermeasures. Meanwhile, the city has thus established a general guide to update thetraditional neighborhoods of research framework.In this paper, the generation and development of the neighborhood are introduced,focusing on the renovation of the historic neighborhood to review and reflection. Fromthe practical difficulties faced and grim neighborhood transform the future of departure,how to continue to guide the neighborhood neighborhood neighborhood environment isa major issue to be studied.
