The paper is based on the requirements of the portable auxiliary maintenance tool of a certainairplane for a certain aircraft manufacture. A system platform of Interactive Electronic TechnicalManual (IETM), which can support the on-site testing and maintenance of avionics is designed anddeveloped. The platform is able to edit, store and search the maintenance documents like teststrategies smartly. The platform can also transmit and receive related maintenance information withPortable Maintenance Aids (PMA) and other smart test devices through data exchange interface. Theplatform is of great importance to increase the maintenance efficiency and the level of automation ofaeronautic equipment. This project covers:(1) Related technology standard analysis. This paper introduces and analyzes the IETMtechnology standard and related products all over the world. Through the research on GJB6600, thetechnical program and implementation process of this project are made.(2) Requirements analysis of the IETM system. The detailed requirements and specific use casesare made according to the customer needs, the related criteria and the current situation of aircraftmaintenance system of China.(3) Module design of the IETM system. This paper designs the complete architecture and someindividual function sub-systems of the IETM system, constructs the multi-layer data modules andtheir relationships of maintenance test strategies.(4) The implementation of IETM prototype system based on GJB6600. Based on the systemdesign result and GJB6600, the aeronautic testing and maintenance IETM system is developed, whichintegrates maintenance test strategy editing, publishing, managing with the feedback of on-site testresults.This IETM system platform can be used to make the functional test after airborne electronic andmechanical devices installed, debug the whole product, isolate fault on-line or out-field andimplement product maintenance with PMA. This system makes up for the shortage on informationand automation of current maintenance technology of our aeronautic equipment, and also acceleratesthe application of IETM system in aircraft life-cycle.
