Hypoid gears have widely been used in various kinds of staggered shaft driving of aeronautical and astronautical engineer, automobiles industry, mining engineering mechanical and electric tool etc, due to its overlapping meshing, steady and smooth transmission, higher strength, flexible space configuration etc. The important direction of the gear assembly development is miniaturization, high speed and low energy. Hypoid gear of high speed ratio can maintaining high transmission efficiency, and the manufacturing process excellent. Therefor the hypoid gear of few teeth and high speed ratio have wide range of potential applications in the filed of mechanical transmission.1Study the geometrical principle of the hypoid gear of few teeth and high speed ratio transmission, giving the geometric constraints of designing hypoid gear of few teeth and high speed ratio, these elements include: undercut, addendum to pointy, interference of tooth surface meshing, limit the size of face cone and analysis of the gear stress distribution etc. With the method of the orthogonal analysis, the main influence geometric parameters of the pitch angle of hypoid gear of few teeth and high speed ratio is analyzed. When the ratio reaches more than10, the displacement radial and tangential displacement must considered.2The gear of the hypoid gear of few teeth and high speed ratio is processed by the forming method. According to the characteristics of the forming method of the gear cutting, The mathematical model of process the gear is established. According to the relationship of the gear meshing, the surface model of the gear generated the opinion is established. Using the principles of gear connection, coordinate transformation, the tooth surface equation of the gear and the opinion is deduced.3Using the soft of MATLAB, the3d point of the surface is solved. using the soft of UG, the sheet of the tooth surface is established, and then the three-dimensional simulation of the gear pair have been done. According to the three-dimensional simulation, the teeth of the pinion reduced to4,3,2. there is no variation of the tooth profile of the pinion, the feasibility of the hypoid gear of few teeth and high speed ratio proposed in this paper is verified.4According to the designing of the hypoid gear of few teeth and high speed ratio, the processing parameters of the gear is calculated, the tooth contact analysis is done, a pair of hypoid gear of few teeth and high speed ratio is processed out on the GH-35gear milling machine. test results consistent with the theoretical model.
