High speed ratio is applied more and more widely in gear transmission with the development of modern mechanical transmission technology towards the direction of high efficiency and high power density. The transmission of the hypoid gear with high speed ratio is a new kind of transmission with high transmission ratio and high efficiency which has been gradually developed in recent years, it also has been gradually applied in the fields of machinery industry, for example, from the main reducer of the car to many other industries, it has successfully replaced helical cylindrical gear, bevel gear, worm gear and other parts of the cross axis transmission. Compared to other forms of transmission, the transmission of the hypoid gear with high speed ratio has higher efficiency in the field of precision transmission which has been used widely, such as the fields of industrial robots and precision machine tools. For the research of the hypoid gear with high speed ratio in the field of meshing theory, simulation analysis and manufacturing, it has a lot of similarities compared to other types of gear transmission.Therefore, focusing on the research of the precision processing and meshing performance for the hypoid gear with high speed ratio, it will have a vital significance for the large speed ratio transmission.The main contents of this paper are as follows:1 The design of the hypoid gear with high speed ratio is focused on the determination of pitch cone and the selection of coefficient of tooth geometry, We can determine the pitch cone of the gear and pinion through the method of optimization, in turn, we can also determine the basic parameters of others.In this paper, through the establishment of the gear forming method and the pinion tilt method processing coordinate system, using the meshing principle and the coordinate transformation, we can get the equation of the tooth surface.2 We can design the processing parameters of the hypoid gear with high speed ratio through the Local Synthesis principle and the tooth surface meshing.We can get the processing parameters of the gear according to the Gleason calculated card, selecting the reference point according to the Local Synthesis principle,we can get the principal curvature and principal direction of the pinion through the principal curvature and principal direction of the gear’s reference point And finally we can get the processing parameters through Matlab programming.3 Building the corresponding relationship between the rotating projection plane and 3d coordinate points of the gear and pinion.I also establish the the tooth surface points program through Matlab programming.I make 3D modeling,assemblying and motion simulation for two pairs of gears which has the gear ratio of 3:60 and 4:48 respectively,at the same time, making a test for the gear ratio of 3:60.Observing the contact area through the rolling test which can verify the correctness of the design of the gear pair.
