The Research Of Container Yard Stockpiling Strategy

With the acceleration of the process of global economic integration, worldwidetrade has become more and more frequent. In the import and export process, thecontainer transportation, which is favored by various transport enterprises and tradingcompanies because it has many outstanding merits such as carrying large quantity andlow freight and so on. And it has already turned to the most common mode oftransportation in the current worldwide trade. As an important place for loading andunloading goods, Container Terminal is overwhelmingly in the whole shippingprocess. Since the implementation of reform and opening up from the1970s, China hasgradually built a number of Container Terminal such as Shanghai Port, Qingdao Portand Tianjin Port. The completion of these terminals not only promote our position inworldwide trade, but also make our country becoming one of the most importantmaritime country in the world.Nowadays, in the management of container yards, our country always takestraditional mode and has a large gap with foreigners. So we have an urgent need toimprove our management level and operational efficiency. Some scholars havegradually begun to do some research such as the way of China’s container terminalcargo handling and shipping efficiency. However, it has not yet formed a theoreticalsystem because of the weak foundation of this area. And very few people interested inthe research of container yard stockpiling strategy.This paper will take the container yard stockpiling strategy as the research object.On the basis of the results of previous studies, it will combine the current managementof our country’s container yard and do some comparative study through Simulationmethod. And hope that the research can improve our current management level andhandling efficiency, thereby enhancing the operational capacity. The main researchwork is divided into three parts. Firstly,doing some overall analysis and research incurrent stockpiling method, including container stockpiling strategic analysis, yardspace stockpiling strategy research and compare the different way of stockpiling aswell as its own advantages and disadvantages and stockpiling rules differences.Secondly, doing some compare research with simulation yard stockpiling strategy through simulation method. Through the comparison of existing import and exportcontainer separate stocking and simulation experiments, in order to optimize thestockpiling way. Finally, through the case analysis way, exploring the place in Chinaport’s actual container storage process which needs to pay attention and improve,including the improvement of the hardware and software facilities, as well as changesin management philosophy and the import and export policies.
