With the rapid development of society and accelerated urbanization, it had brought the world’s energy crisis, in order to achieve sustainable development, the use and development of new renewable energy is imperative. In this context, the research and use of solar energy has been carried out for a long time like a raging fire in many countries.Although China is rich in solar energy resources, but in hot summer and cold winter region solar energy resources is commonly, but its climate is very extreme, summer is stuffiness, winter is cold and wet, degree of comfort of living environment is bad, then how to develop solar integration buildings in hot summer and cold winter region is extremely challenging. Since solar building is to obtain energy through technical means from the environment, then it must be regional architecture, its design strategy and tactics must focus on this particular area to expand. By analyzing the climate characteristics of hot summer and cold winter regions, as well as the composition of photovoltaic systems, application methods of photovoltaic systems in construction, This paper discussed the advantages, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of integrated design of solar and building in the hot summer and cold winter region,.Now relatively mature technology of integrated design of solar and building is photovoltaic roof. Despite the efficiency of solar photovoltaic roof is absorb higher, but because of large population in hot summer and cold winter region and the rapid development of the city and higher and higher building, the relatively available roof area is far failed to meet people’s requirements. Thus, the study of integrated design of solar and building facade in hot summer and cold winter region is very necessary.Architecture is the direct beneficiaries of technological innovation, and because the complexity and practice of building and building creation itself, no matter what the implementation and use of new technology itself in the building, or the change of design thinking triggered by the application of new technologies, they needed time. For the integrated design of solar photovoltaic building facades, the formal beauty must also is the considered principle, not just technical problems. This paper analyzed the utilization of unity, proportion, scale, rhythm, change, building color and other design techniques in the integrated design of solar and building facade.Through analyzing the climate, energy consumption and energy conservation requirements and so on in hot summer and cold winter region, the paper discussed the possibility that blind walls, glass, balconies and sun visors combined with PV on the facade. Through detailed studying and analyzing the instance of solar photovoltaic building fa ade in hot summer and cold winter area region, the paper also detailedly analyzed the structure and design of photovoltaic hollow glass, and its optical efficiency and maximum light transmittance, PV design and installation, control and protection, also its economic benefits.
