The decorations of Canton Ancestral Temple are brilliant. They not only beautify innerroom of architecture, but also increasing architecture appeal, some of which even carrying thewill of masters or builders. Architecture decorations exist in Canton Ancestral Temple, andbeing an important part of Canton Ancestral Temple. Through collecting Ancestral Templecases, this article constructs the model of Canton Ancestral Temple and combs decorations’distribution, focusing on decoration components, discussing their material technologies、formsand themes, clearing up their changing tendency and rules in Canton Ancestral Temple. Mostof this text is belong to synchronic studies, based on which it discussing the diachronic ofarchitecture decorations, incase to complete a more systematized research of architecturedecorations.This research consists of basic research and extended research: Chapter2to Chapter4isthe basic research, mainly discussing material technologies、 forms and themes ofarchitecture decorations, which is the main body of this article; Chapter5is the extendedresearch, mainly talking about how architecture decoration being perceived.Chapter1introduces research background and pending issues of architecture decorationin Canton Ancestral Temple.Chapter2shows the distribution of decoration Chapters, and introduces the maintechnology category of them through architecture drawings, and describes their technologycharacteristics from four respects, foundation、walls、construction and roof.Chapter3focus on forms of architecture decorations, Combing and analyzing31cases ofdecorations by a statistics way, and looking out their connection and rules in Ancestral Temple,moving on to quantitative research form qualitative research.Chapter4focus on themes of architecture decorations, picking up several wild-useddecorations patterns for a further discussion, and making a conclusion of themes expressingcharacteristic.Chapter5contains four Chapters, distribution characteristic of architecture decorations、the relationship between people and decorations in ceremony、the audience of architecturedecoration、and monumental expression, mainly talking about how architecture decoration being perceived. This Chapter is a respond and extension to the pre-sections as well.By combining architecture decorations to the whole Canton Ancestral Temple system,this Chapter starts with material technologies、forms and themes, conducting a research onarchitecture decorations systematic and deeply, concluding the spread tendency of decorationsin architecture complex, and drawing the “ideal” decoration model, showing the features ofCanton Ancestral Temple in a more comprehensive manner.
