The Research On Ancestral Temple Of Ming And Qing Dynasties In RuCheng, ChenZhou

Ancestral temple which is often a clan built to commemorate the ancestors is a kind of memorial temples.It is a place where a clan can not only hold a ceremony in order to admire the ancestor's memorial tablet and worship the ancestors,but also carry out clan discipline,consult and banquet.Ancestral temple belonging to chinese traditional architecture is playing a very important role in a clan's faith center and ceremony center.Located in the southeast of Hunan, Rucheng in Chenzhou is the common boundary among Hunan,Guangdong and Jiangxi, and therefore, for its particular geographical position, culture in Rucheng has been blended into other cultures in the peripheral areas, such as the central plains of China.These polynary cultures have generated the unique architecture form of the ancestral temple in Rucheng.At present,the study about the ancestral temple in Rucheng is lack of data, however, there are several ansestral temples with gorgeous architecture and delicate engravings of Ming and Qing dynasties within five kilometers from the town, rare in domestic.The paper mainly foucses on some aspects of the subsistence,layout, architecture form,art achievement and history of these ancestral temples after a series of visit,investigation,data collection and analysis to enable the public to have an insight about the ancestral temple's artistic and historical value.So the better-organised protection and unilization could be consciously amd gradually implemented.The paper basically consists of three parts. The first part, the one about rationale, mainly concentrates on the selected topic research and the philosophy theoretical analysis on ancestral temple. The selected topic research elaborates the background, current situation and significance of this study, limiting the primary research coverage and determining the work frame. The philosophy theoretical analysis part analyzes and summarizes the motivations, the characteristics and the developments of ancestral temple construction on the base of the massive literature materials.The second part, demostrating the research on ancestral temple in Rucheng, briefly summarizes the characteristics of the layout,architecture and decoration by studying eight representative ancestral temples built in Ming and Qing dynasties.The third part is for the ancestral temple's protection and unilization, and it refers to the basic principles and the advanced methods, with which the domestic protect ancient construction and unifies the present situation of the ancestral temple in Rucheng,Chenzhou, to put forward some proposals to protect the local ancestral temples and seek for the new way for ancestral temple's development.
