Cracking and frost condensation ice of asphalt pavement in low temperature environment, not only affect the service life of pavement, also can cause serious traffic safety problem, which has always been a major problem in road engineering. Previous studies mainly improvelow temperature stability of asphalt mixture through establishing the asphalt pavement lowtemperature performance evaluation index and using the test for inspection. The artificial, mechanical, chemical, thermal, etc way has been used to solve pavement melting ice andsnow. These methods dealing with the low temperature influence of asphalt pavement areuseful but passive. This study attempts to mix the micro-encapsulated phase changethermoregulation agent to the asphalt mixture, in order to improve asphalt mixturet activetemperature control ability in reponse to the low temperature environment. This study establishs asphalt mixture extrior cube model, the heat transfer performanceofthermoregulation asphalt mixture and external environment factors are concluded, byobserving the change of temperature field distribution and characteristics temperatureinterface within the model. Latent heat accumulated temperature value and latent heat indexare proposed to evaluate latent heat effect, which can characterize the phase change latent heatthermoregulation ability and efficiency effectively. The mutual influence of the latent heat oftime domain and temperature domain is revealed, regulatory effect to latent heat accumulatedtemperature value and latent heat thermoregulation index of the time and temperature domainis analyzed under external environment. The mechanism in the process of phase change latentheat is analyzed periodically. The scope of time and temperature domain in the process ofeffective phase change is proposed, based on the conversion relationship. The relationequation between latent heat accumulated temperature value and time temperature domain iscalculated. The low value of latent heat thermoregulation index depended on prospectivelatent heat thermoregulation effect is determined. The index requirements of thermoregulationagent to evaluate temperature adjustment effect is proposed syntheticlly.
