Because of energy shortage and environmental problem, the development and utilizationof green new energy were got great attention, and stable and reliable power supply system wasmore and more important. However, as an important energy storage device, the battery had alot of problems when it was used, such as life expectancy caused by charging improperly. As aresult, a battery intelligent charging system based on ARM processor was studied in this paper.Firstly, according to the working principle and characteristics of battery, the main factorsaffecting the service life of battery in the process of charging were analyzed. And bycomparing the lead-acid battery charging methods, the influence of pulse charging method tolead-acid battery was studied. The charging strategy of multistage constant-current chargingcombined with pulse charging had been determined finally, and the design of the overall planwas completed. Secondly, according to the chip data of STM32and the working principle ofthe bidirectional DC-DC converter, the hardware and software of the system had been modulardesigned respectively in this paper. The design of hardware part mainly included thebidirectional DC-DC main circuit, chip control circuit, sampling circuit and driving circuit, etc.The design of the software part was in the KEIL development environment, and themonitoring of battery state was implemented by calling the subroutine modules. Among them,the subroutine modules mainly included the program of AD sampling module, LCD displaymodule and segmented PID control module AD sampling module, LCD display module andsectional PID control module.Through the experiments and analysis of the system, it was indicated that this device canrealize better battery intelligent charging. The activation of pulse charging to lead-acid batteryhas been verified, and the charging efficiency of the battery was well improved.
