Twist-beam rear suspension is being favored by domestic and foreign automobilemanufacturers for its simple structure, low manufacturing cost and easy located onbody.But it is lateral force oversteer which is difficult to change. Watt-linkTwist-beam is produced to solve this problem.While with Watt-link Twist-beamequipped, the suspension roll stiffness is raised and it can turn into understeer underlateral force.As is known to all, suspension is the most important part for vehicle’s handling andstability. Besides, K&C characters are the key problem to suspension. So, thestudying about K&C of suspension is important for increasing the vehicle’s handingand stability. This paper is studying the superiority of Watt-link Twist-beam rearsuspension over Twist-beam suspension. So, choose this two types suspensions tosimulation and analysis.This paper aims to study the differences of K&C characteristics between the tworear suspensions and the impacts on vehicle handling and stability, provide theoreticalsupport for the Watt-linkage twist-beam rear suspension. Firstly, the paper researchesthe indicators of suspension K&C characteristics and analyzes the cause of theinfluences of suspension K&C on full vehicle performance. At the same time, thepaper refers to the relevant documents and summarizes the practical experience, andthen gives reasonable intervals of every indicator. Use the dynamics softwareADAMS to build the suspension models and vehicle models, whereafter, test thesuspension K&C characteristic simulations and vehicle handling stability. In order toobtain better toe&camber features structure parameters of Watt twist beamsuspension are optimized in use of ADAMS/Insight. Finally, compare and analyze thedifferences between the two kinds of cars in steady state test and steer step inputs test.On the basis of previous studies, this paper compares and analyzes the K&Ccharacteristics of the Watt-linkage twist-beam suspension provides theoretical supportfor the development of the Watt-linkage twist-beam suspension.at the same time givesits great significance to improve the semi-independent suspension.
