71%of the surface is covered by the ocean in the earth, it’s the most effectiveway to solve the issues of population explosion, resource scarcity and economicrecession by developing and making full use of the resources from the sea.Development of marine military, strengthen the construction of coastal are also theprimary task in many countries. However, efficient, stable marine equipment andmature marine engineering theory are urgently needed because of the special physicaland chemical properties of seawater as well as the complex marine environment.Replacing the mineral hydraulic oil by seawater as the working media in thefluid power transmission technology is called seawater hydraulic technology, whichhas become the most promising fields in the fluid power transmission field and playsa very important role in developing the marine resources and marine military.Seawater hydraulic pump, of which the performances and service life are highlydependent on the structural design and material selection of the friction pairs andsliding bearing, are the power components of the seawater hydraulic systems. So,studying the friction and wear theory, lubrication and bearing mechanism of thefriction pairs and sliding bearing in laboratory is very helpful to the design andmaterial selection of seawater hydraulic components.Based on the previous studies, a seawater abrasion and friction test bench withhigh ambient pressure (≦20MPa) is to be developed for deep-sea (≦2000m)application environments. The technical requirements are presented and comparisonanalyses have been made between two testing schemes: rotating cylinder-blockscheme and rotating swash-plate scheme. Details are presented on the designs of thekey friction pairs and sliding bearing of the rotating cylinder-block bench. Applyingcheck valves in the test bench and the hydraulic system is simulated by usingAMESim. In the end, the programs of the data acquisition system is introduced aswell as the sensors selection, installation, sealing and the handling about the cables. This research provides a test bench for the design of key parts in deep-sea water hydraulic pump/motor and the studies of the related theories (such as the friction andwear theory, lubrication and bearing mechanism).
