Reducing the energy consumption of urban rail vehicles is an important contentand goals of the current research for urban rail vehicles at home and aboard. Thepowertrain parameters of the straddle-type monorail vehicle is mainly about the motorpower and the transmission ratio, whose matching optimization has a great relationshipwith the vehicle performance. In the case of the motor parameter determination, choosea reasonable transmission ratio can make the best vehicle performance and economy.Optimized the power transmission ratio, the monorail vehicle has a lower energyconsumption, so as to realize operation cost. The main work is as follows:1) In this paper, the structure and the movement mechanical characteristics ofmonorail vehicles is analyzed. Based on the requirements for the power performanceand economy of the vehicle, the powertrain system parameters of the monorail vehicleare put forward. Then the range of the powertrain system parameters and thetransmission ratio is determined as well.2) The monorail vehicle control strategy is different from ordinary cars’. Based onthe automatic operation (ATO) control system, monorail vehicles have three kinds ofcontrol strategies: the most rapid control strategy, the most economical control strategyand hybrid control strategy. In this paper, the study of the powertrain system parameteris based on hybrid control strategy.3) GT-DRIVE software is used to build a model of the vehicle, which is used tosimulate with the different performance and economy of vehicles. The simulationresults and actual performance are similar, which proves the accuracy of the model.Aimed the rail line in Chongqing, the monorail vehicle driving cycles is designed. Sothe economy study of the monorail vehicle has practical significance.4) Aimed at the performance and fuel economy targets, the multi-objectiveoptimization problem and effective solutions are put forward. At last, the characteristicsof genetic algorithm and process are introduced.5) Bonded the GT-DRIVE and modeFRONTIER, the parameters of the drivelineare optimized. An optimization model is established in modeFRONTIER. And Paretooptimal solution is used to find out the best main retarder ratio which makes the vehicleuse lower energy.
