With the rapid increase of private car possession, road traffic congestionbecomes increasingly serious and there is a growing emphasis on environmentalproblem. The traffic efficiency of the signalized intersection plays an important roleon the whole transportation systems. Previous studies consider traffic parameterswithout considering environmental issues. Therefore, it has practical significance topropose a new traffic signal control model based on the condition of the traffic flowand vehicle exhaust emissions. This dissertation analyzes the content and meaning of signalized intersection onthe basis of previous results. Selects three evaluation indicators, delay, capacity andCO emissions, as the basis of timing scheme and introduces the multi-objectiveprogramming theory. It establishes the multi-objective signal timing modelconsidering the factor of vehicle exhaust emissions, using the fuzzy preferencemethod to determine the membership function weights in a single objective functionand the dynamic acceleration constant coordination with the inertia weight particleswarm optimization (WCPSO) and to solve the single objective function. This dissertation combines the improved particle swarm optimization with signaltiming model and designs the solving process with particle swarm optimization.Analyzing the basic data of Lianjiang Road and Fengming Road intersection under thecondition site survey. By calculating effective green time of phase is obtainedrespectively p=l, p=2, p and delays, capacity, and CO emissions of theintersection total and sub-phase are calculated. It obtains the optimal green time byanalyzing the results of the multi-objective signal timing model. Finally, with the introduction of computer simulation technology, a trafficsimulation model is set up by TSIS software. After the timing program have beenoptimized, the delay per vehicle in the intersection reduced by9.7%than that of thecurrent situation timing delay, queue length reduced by15%, emissions of COreduced by10%, the average speed increased by5.8%, the service level in theintersection improved significantly. On the basis of the comparation the resultsbetween the present situation and optimized, the validity of the multi-objective signaltiming model considering the factor of vehicle exhaust emissions has been verifiedextremely.
