With the increasing competition in the automotive industry, all manufacturers arelooking to improve the quality of their automotive products to attract consumers. Thegearbox is an important part of vehicle transmission system, its performance willdirectly affect the quality of the vehicle. Although the automatic transmission is thefuture direction of development of the car, the traditional manual gearbox will stilloccupy a certain market for some time, with its mature technology, simple structure,low fuel consumption and unique maneuverability. Therefore, the research on themanual transmission, especially on the shifting performance is of great significance.Automotive transmission is a complex mechanical system consisted of manyparts. There is still a lot of technical data can’t be obtained by theoretical calculationsinstead of tests. Therefore, the shifting performance test of the transmission is anessential part of the process of transmission development. Based on the full study onrelated national test standard of automobile transmission and the same type test benchof home and abroad, we developed a shifting performance test bench of theautomobile transmission. The main research work is as follows:1) Firstly, we carried out a detailed analysis and research on the force of theprocess of manual automobile transmission, and obtained the typical force curve ofthe shifting process of MT which provides a steady theoretical foundation for the lateranalysis of the test data;2) Completed the design of the main structure of the test bed and various fixtureby using CAD software;3) A detailed analysis of the actuators, drive and control methods of the shiftingrobot, and designed the pneumatic circuit of shift actuator;4) Setup a monitoring network based on Profibus-DP and Profinet Bustechnology, and described the configuration method of the network in detail;5) Designed a monitoring program including: system login program, personnelmanagement procedures, gear calibration procedure, the inverter control procedures,data collection procedures and database applications, etc;Finally, a certain type of transmission had been shifting Performance Test byusing the test bench, and the test data had been simple analysed. Through the test, thesystem runs well, stable performance, meet the design requirements.
